Dullam Tumbler Replica

Bob, do you have the fron suspension worked out? Care to share any details?

RE: Dullam Tumbler Replica

Yeah, and if you have the "front" suspension worked out that would be great to see also....

RE: Dullam Tumbler Replica

I just read this bost from Bob on BOTB
"May 18th I start the Tumbler project full throttle. will try to have new pics up on a daily basis. The goal is to try to have it done before the movie comes out. At the same time Bob C. will be finishing his 95' car, which got put on the back burner over the last year."

WOW, that's less than a month! This ought to be fun. I hope he has a guy taking the pictures and posting them because he's not going to have time...

RE: Dullam Tumbler Replica

RE: Dullam Tumbler Replica

Yes, I do have the front suspension worked out. I also have the Rear suspension worked out, which I think is equaly nuts, I think. But hey, is there any of the batmobiles that aren't nuts?? Most of what I've been doing up to this point is ordering parts, Materials, studying, drawing, and thinking (very dangerous ). I'm still waiting on a few things such as the rear ext. adj. coil overs. I just got my rear sus. competition ladders in. Got some 1 5/8" .128 d.o.m. tubes bent, the 360 deg. one that connects the top part of the coil overs and supports the afterburner housing is done. So on the 18th of May I'm lightin a match under my butt , and plan on spending 10 plus hrs a day for a solid month. We'll see how far it goes. I feel pretty good that I should be able to get it to look completed externally, body on rolling chassis thing. Gona employ some tricks to get the engine to sound big, full. Job one is to get it LOOK right. Very important to me is the external visual aspect
As far as tires go, the rears are SS 44's just like the specs say (I always call them the "suedo" specs), you know -- "speed:unknown" etc.. The front tires are Hooisiers, but notice how they put the two tires on the front, instead of both labels on the outside. When they mounted those at the race car store (lane automotive) I had to convince the guy that this was not a mistake. He was worried that someone would say "hey what the???", and he would get into trouble for a goof.

ON top of this I'm finishing the 95' car which has been put on the back burner in lieu of the C. Reeve statue, a giant Herman Munster head, Begins costume, and god knows what else. In all of the stuff I do, I find the car thing at the end of the day to be the most rewarding. Definately the hardest thing to do phyically.
So, come may 18th (Wed.) I will be spending as little time on chat boards, and curtailing all other activities for a month, but will try to put up as many photos as I can on the site, daily I hope. Keep checking the site, and be sure and leave comments, or questions, I am more likely to answer them there.

RE: Dullam Tumbler Replica

The actual car had the tires mounted that way for some reason.

RE: Dullam Tumbler Replica

Now that I look again I see that the tires are both rotating the same direction. The wheel must be turned opposite of each other then, right? How is this different from a normal set up?

 From: Jack | Posted: 5/12/2005 9:00:44 AM |

RE: Dullam Tumbler Replica

Sadly the reason that they are mounted that way is probably because someone just wasn't paying attention. They were in a hurry just like any movie car. Either way the car really looks awesome and the newest trailer make it look even better. http://pdl.warnerbros.com/wbol/uk/movies/batman_begins/F4/batman_begins_tlrf4_qt_500.mov

RE: Dullam Tumbler Replica

It keeps them rotating the proper direction though doesn't it? Why would that be a mistake?

RE: Dullam Tumbler Replica

Bob, what is the part number or series and size of the front tires? Thanks.

RE: Dullam Tumbler Replica

Why do we want to know so much? It must be a sickness. I should just enjoy the movie.

Still no idea what you guys are talking of but here's the pic I found from old threads.

RE: Dullam Tumbler Replica

See how the tread pattern is the same from left to right on both tires? I don't entirely understand the issue now myself.

RE: Dullam Tumbler Replica

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is infatuated with this vehicle, I'm looking forward to watching this build as much, if not more than I am to the movie. He plans to build this thing in less than 30 days!

RE: Dullam Tumbler Replica

Bob D,
could you please post what you told me about your bad experience with dust and fiberglass. I think that was excellent advice to give for a hobby such as this.
