How much does a 1989 batmobile replica cost? I've been hearing conflicting reports. Someone told me it's as cheap as 20k: 10k for 1984 Chevy and 10k for body kits. Someone else told me it could cost as high as 68k  .
Those who have the replica, how much did it cost you to purchase/make? Thanks for the info. |

It is believed to have been a film used 89" car owned by Comic Book Creator Kevin Eastman of Turtles fame (this owner is only speculation and unconfirmed.) |

RE: How much does a 1989 batmobile replica cost? ( FOLLOW-UP) A replica's official size is mostly scale guesswork and model and toy referenced due to the fact that Warner Bros. Special Projects Division will only release Specs of the Cars to it's Licensed Contractors such as TRIX Customs at Rodsandracers.com. They have built five of the real cars and are prohibited from releasing any design Specs other than those listed on their site. Also most "real" batmobiles are just a custom shell put over a tubed racing frame. Only one car was ever fitted with the Browning Machine guns. A replica's price is usually based on the condition of the donor car as the Custom Shell is indeed in the $30,000 - $50,000 price range, a working afterburner is usually around $20,000 fitted and tested. This information was gathered over many years of trying to get a replica project off the ground, sadly to no avail as most custom shops would offer to build the Barris "66 and not the Keaton Car. |

RE: How much does a 1989 batmobile replica cost? I'm currently building a 1989 batmobile go-cart. I started with a small gas powered Hot Wheels go-cart that I got from sams for $400. Right now I'm working on the buck/plug for the fiberglass body. The car will have to be somewhat stylized to fit the existing frame and will be a one seater with no canopy (except as maybe a cover when not in use) but other than that it will be as accurate as possible. For now I just plan on documenting the build of this go-cart for my 4-year old son. (Son's are great excuses for things like this. The cost of the fibreglass parts is about 10K which is the only constant in price. I've heard that some people are selling shells down south for about 6K, but that is only a rumour. From there it's all a matter of creativity and resourcefullness. So little of the donor vehicle is kept that you could cut up a Yugo and make it work if you really wanted to. And the final price all comes down to the details. Some of the Six Flags cars are nothing more than an shell with a metal frame underneith. Do you REALLY think that these cars cost 58 thousand dollars more to build? Not even if that frame was made of solid gold. The most money ever put into a replica was over 150 thousand dollars. The cheapest was 10. "What's in YOUR wallet?"" |

If all I need I someone with the body shell + a donor car (and a hell of a lot of work) I only have 2 questions. 
1. Who has a good body shell to sell me? 2. What stops WB taking it off the road? (and also how do I get the cash to buy the shell?) 
This is from a man who was never "into cars". Can't get this idea out of my head.

Body Kit $15,000 Donor car $ 2,000 Frame & engine work $ 2,000 Floor boards, dash & firewall $ 1,000 Steel for body $ 500 Radiator $ 200 Tail lights both sets $ 1,200 Gauge set $ 1,200 Seats $ 700 LT1 harness $ 700 Body harness $ 160 Actuators 4ea $ 400 Canopy glass $ 100 Resin, Mat & filler $ 2,000 Headlights $ 100 Turbine blades & Welding $ 500 Exhaust & welding $ 500 Steering collumn & setup $ 300 Interior $ 2,000 Wheels & Tires $2,000 _________________________ Low Total $32560.00 Most of the numbers are very conservative and doesn’t cover priming and painting and only covers most of the large components. There are so many items not listed here that runs up to thousands of dollars. This is if you do all the work your self, I would hate to see how much labor is involved. I am sure there are guys here that can run these numbers through the roof. |
