RE: The MISADVENTURES of the Amazing Spiderman

And now for the story - Jack PM'd me recently and asked how tall I was, weight, etc. After I told him, he said he had a Spiderman suit that I could probably squeeze into. He sent it to me, and I recieved it as I was going out the door to get some lunch at a local restaurant. As excited as I was, I carried the package in with me so I could take a peek.

Inside the restaurant, I opened the package and absolutely LOVED what I saw. The suit is probably the BEST Spiderman suit I had ever laid eyes on in person. And get this - JACK SEWED THE WHOLE THING HIMSELF! So after realising that I am sitting in a public place with a cool looking Spidey suit in front of me, I did what any self respecting adult would do... I ran into the bathroom to put it on! I gave my clothes to my buddy and came bursting out of the bathroom as Spiderman. People went nuts. Kids wanted to shake my hand, parents wanted pictures, and I was even booked for a birthday party while being crazy out in the parking lot (see pic of my standing on top of truck, while moving!).

After making a big scene at the restaurant, and furthing the spectacle in the parking lot, I decided there would be nothing funnier than seeing Spidey ride around on a motorcycle through town. So I got dropped off at my house, IN COSTUME, took my bike and started riding. First stop was picking up my sister, who just got back from Iraq three days ago and has only two weeks to visit before she goes back to the sandbox. After that, I stopped by a dance studio, an IHOP, the center of a major street in Rancho Cucamonga (stopped traffic), the gymnastics studio I work at in the evenings, a reptile store, etc. Needless to say, I had a BLAST! Everyone seemed to love the idea of Spiderman walking around town like it was only natural.

Later that night, I put the suit on while I was at work, and did some gymnastics in it. I have LOTS of video that I will be uploading soon. I just need to find the time!

So you're telling me Jack was sitting in his home one day and instead of working on his GA or other cars, he decided to sew himself a spiderman suit???

Who wears what in what household now?

I have many talents. I just hope Justin doesn’t trade in his Batmobile for a Spidey Buggy.

That looks awesome J-Man, even from down here!!

When we used to own the Toy stores, my wife got me a Batman suit from one of our suppliers, I think it was Hasbro, and I had lots of fun dressed up as Batman around Christmas time. Similar thing I was asked if I did parties and so on. Some of the mummies were quite yummy. Thinking back it would have been a shame to waste the batsuit on a kids party!!!!

Jack,

You've got Spidey suits?

You might be closer to that Batcycle than you realize...

I got one from Sosner when the first film came out.

It fit me really well, but Sosner is into the comic versions more than the film.

So when he told me he was planning on making film versions, I gave it back to him when he ran out and needed one for a convention.

He never ended up making the film ones. He's started working on them recently, but he's quite a ways away from filling his existing orders.

I have one of those Blockbuster ones, but that one doesn't fit me worth a damn.

Wanna deal?

lol. I LOVE Jack's suit! It fits like a glove, and it looks AMAZING. I asked him if I could pay him to make me one, but he said it took him three months and I doubt I could coerce him into doing it. :( HOWEVER, I don't have Batcycle molds!!!

Justin U are a true nutter. I have a Toy shop over here too and at christmas i donate presents to the childrens ward of the hospital. Last year I drove there in my full Santa Clause costume in a convertible. I've never seen so many kids getting their parents to turn the car around and follow me just to make sure I knew wot they wanted for Christmas. I caused severe Traffic Problems. Great fun though. I'll be having a promotion day next week at the shop to promote Hallowe'en stock that's just arrived so I'll be wearing my Batsuit for that. It's just a pity I dont have a Batmobile to go wit the suit. Hay Mark, Will U post 1 over to me Buddy

We need a picture of Spidey driving/stealing the Batmobile. Maybe one with Spidey using a slimjim.

RE: The MISADVENTURES of the Amazing Spiderman

Jack is not the only one here that's made a Spidey suit. Mine was a little more virtual however. This was my first dabble in character modeling & animation...

You will probably have to right-click the link and "save target as" to your hard drive to run it.

lol. That was great! I loved Spidey knocking over the cardboard cutout of himself...

On another note - I am making a paid birthday appearance in three hours. It is at the local Chuck E Cheeze. Should be fun, but the girlfriend is working so I won't be able to get any pics.

That is an awesome animation. Really smooth. I like the crawling down the curved wall the best. What software are you using?

Wow, hash looks really cool. I'm currently using fragmotion. Of course, the fact that it's dirt cheap plays a pretty big factor.

Hash/Animation Master is cheap as well. $299

I am thinking of getting Maya, but that's more like $5,000 - $7,000. I really like the modeling interface and the fluidics packages.

I really like maya too. And I meant cheap like $20.

Anim8or is pretty cool too because it's free, but doesn't have all the bone editing things that I want.

RE: The MISADVENTURES of the Amazing Spiderman

Hey Jack,

I love the suit, but you screwed up the head. I don't think you've got the whole "Spidey" concept down just yet.

Thanks though...

I tried to fix it by attaching a red stocking mask, but it felt a little too "S&M" for me.

With the addition of a pair of regulation safety glasses it makes a good fibreglassing suit. Keeps the dust out of your lungs.

Plus, it fits in with everything else in my office.

So I think I'll keep it. I ordered your glass today, should start the cycle in about a week.

I'm sure it will be finished before Justin gets to my Batcycle Icon.
