Adding background music will probably kill this thread.
It will constantly have to start over everytime u reply or go to next page.

Only way to make it stream constantly is to use frames or pop up, but who wants those?

RE: Club CLTC

Average price per weekend appearance for an 89 is 8K plus expenses Why would anyone pay that when you can go see it at any of the museums in the "Visit the Batmobile" thread for less then $10? Also, I think if a replica hit a school bus hard enough to do any damage the replica would be in so many pieces you wouldn't recognize it anyway.

I would think that the WB should be happy to get all of the free advertisement. I know this website sure has made them a lot of money. Even I went out and bought all of the Begins figures, several 1/18th 89s, and will buy every Tumbler I see. Oh yeah then there is the 100+ Hot Wheels cars I bought.

RE: Club CLTC

Because everybody gets their cut. I used to get upwards of 4 to 5K a day for a car at a major show. I'd have to be there on Thursday night and set up for free to be ready the next morning. The venue paid for the hotel and travel and gave me a card to eat free at their exhibitor dining hall. I'd have to be there at 9AM and have the car manned continuously until 11PM, but there were some good times during the day.

Then you got to go party with the car show girls (If you didn't bring your own. )

Of which there were plenty.

You'd see them on their car.

You'd invite them to come sit in your car...

And you never know what's gonna happen next...

Then you go back in with a hangover on Saturday morning and do it all over again for a half day on Sunday. Once the last person left the arena, you jammed all your stuff in the trailer and everybody made a mad dash to get out of there as quick as possible.

But that's where the money is. No doubt about it. But everyone's fighting and bidding for the same shows all across the country and it can get pretty "tense" sometimes.

But why would people pay that?

The automanufacturers and dealers want you to spend your 10 or 15 bucks to come see the Batmobile. But the "star cars" are always located at the farthest place possible from the entrance. You, as a visitor, have to wade through a sea of dealers trying their best to sell you a Kia. They are the ones who pony up the serious cash for the latest and greatest movie car. Tens of thousands of people go to their local major shows each day, most of these people aren't going travel to any of the places on the "Visit" list, so this is their chance and the automakers know it.

That's why the big bucks.

But to play in this game, you need the most current and the nicest cars anyone's ever seen. They have to be perfect or no one's gonna buy them as "the original". And let's face it. No one is going to buy a ticket to a show to see a "replica" of the Batmobile.

Again... everyone gets their little piece.

Even WB...

You can show your car... and you can get a "license" to do it. But the average studio "permission" price PER EVENT (meaning each weekend) is usually 15K per car.

Big business... serious business.

but everyone plays the game. Even Kruse is "selling" their 89 for the 50th time at their auction on Aug 9,10 & 11 in NYC on Pier 92. Do you think the owners of this car "hate" it so much they need to sell it every 6 months?

Nope... just that it's good for publicity for the auction.

That's why Jack.

RE: Club CLTC

Hey Bane,

Jay wasn't the first. The first recorded licensing violation and subsequent confiscation was the replica 66 that was on display in Ohio as an original. Desilu and Greenway grabbed that one and gave it to George.

The Batlimo was confiscated and returned.

A shipment of movie vehicles (including a pair of 66's, an 89, a TV Batboat and a cycle) were grabbed in Long Beach when they returned from a tour in Spain. The entire shipment was put up for auction, but the Bat vehicles were pulled out at the last minute and crushed.

A builder in NYC faced confiscation of his cars, but cut a deal and the lawsuit was dropped. Construction of his Futura limo was halted.

Several people have received C&D letters and I've been involved in a lawsuit myself.

But most of the 89 replicas were built and delivered in secret to people who only wanted to own them. Not show them off.

Personally, I think that's what it's all about. If you're building one of these cars to make money? Do yourself a favor and play the stock market! You'll have better luck and less headaches.

I know it's tough to turn down a huge pile of cash when you've spent so much building your car.

But patents and trademark expirations mean nothing. WB sells the license to Mattel for the Hotwheels cars and BANG!!! New, fresh license!!! They CAN and WILL protect their franchise how and when they see fit.

Best advice is "Don't push it!"

RE: Club CLTC

Great news; I just found out my ex-wife makes almost 50 grand a year. I am applying for a increase in child support, I should get almost 1400.00 a month in child support. Now I can free up some funds for the Batmobile.
