RE: Thank you veterans
A military life isn’t an easy life to live for over 20 years. You give so much of yourself, where you live where you work, what you do even what shift you work. You loose many of the rights that everyone else takes for granted. Having to move every few years having to start all over again. Having to live over seas for a year at a time and having to leave your wife and children behind. A military life carries the highest divorce rate higher than any other career in the U.S.
A military career can be the most gratifying and self-fulfilling careers you can ever work. You can advance as far as your abilities let you. You can do things than most people can only dream of doing. I have never regretted the path I took in my life, and cherish the memories I carry of all my Air Force comrades. Some of the people you meet become much more than just friends may become family. You have spent many years together working, fighting, eating and living together for so long you know them better than their own families do. The bond becomes so strong between so many of us that we still remain in close contact with one another after all these years.
If I would have to do it all over again, I would do it in a heartbeat.
Thanks to all who have served: Msgt Kevin Patnode USAF retired.

RE: Thank you veterans
Dedicated to those fell so we never stumble. To honor those who serve, so that we can be free - KeatonCar.
My brother stood by me shoulder at my side.
Sons of two fathers who long since have died.
Though tears have long past like the early spring rain.
They both went to serve to ease mankind's shame.
Military honors in death were bestowed.
The flag of their nation to the family betrothed.
In life they had laughter, love and maybe fame.
They gave all that up to ease others pain.
To be taken from home to fight in foreign land
and battle for right in the mud, sea and sand.
They gave what was asked for amongst the rockets red glare.
Paid for in valor as around bombs were bursting in air.
Now they have fallen and have paid with their lives.
So that the sons of these fathers maybe more wise.
My brother is not known who stands by my side.
But as the last post now calls out
we reflect why they died.....
Freedom.

RE: Thank you veterans
Kevin, thats all very nice.
I could not get in the (lovely, it really is)airforce because of forarm tatoos.
I joined the army. I didn't have as pleasant of a time as you.
I and three others ended up getting shafted for something we were not supposed to see.
Perhaps it would all have been different if I had joined the airforce.
I currently have a cousin, GuNry Sgt. and an uncle, Navy RSO still in. I liked the life, but man, life can be very strange.

RE: Thank you veterans
I also served in the Army ILOVEBATMAN. The experience is never all positive, nor all negative. But looking back on it, I would do it again is a heartbeat and I would fight like hell every chance I got. Like you, I got "shafted" for something that was beyond my control... And I still feel the effects each and every single day of my life. Even today as the weather gets colder here in Southern California, I feel the pain more and more.
