A Load of Crap!!!! I know this will get me banned but I have to say it! I think it is a load of crap that those of you post a topic and exclude the new people that are trying to fit in here by making you posts viewable to those with 50 posts or more or 100 posts or more. This was a good board when I joined but now it just seems that a lot of you have your freaking nose turned up so high that you think you are so much better than anyone else that you posts are so great that only the elite of the elite are allowed to view it. What you should do is try to treat everyone equally fair and turn your nose down a bit before you fall backward!!!!! OK, You can ban me now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

RE: A Load of Crap!!!! I have to agree. Some of us enjoy learning about building and watching you guys who have the funding come along on your projects. We'd love to contribute, but if we're not building our own car it's tough to post anything of substance that you guys haven't seen before. I can see the 10 posts thing, but 50 and 100? I think having to get up to 50 just encourages us n00bs to post a lot of "yeah, I agree" and "that pic was great. Thanks" type comments. The quality of the posts goes down becasue people are trying to post at every opportunity. Anyway, it's not my board, but I thought I'd put a different viewpoint forth. Matt

RE: A Load of Crap!!!! Everything goes back to the troll above. I've had the forum not require registration for a year even though many suggested it. But the troll finally drove me to it. The registration process alone does not safe guard against troll attacks. And some old timers don't want certain info spread out to trolls so easily hence the 10+ 50+ 100+ post thingy(?). Also they also probably feel it's worthless to post anything new anymore when no one's doing the same. Pretty much everything you need to know to about 1989 batmobile is available in normal threads. Also there are plenty of members who will respond to your PM on specific things(I hope). You can increase your post count with Club CLTC thread above. The guy that's bitching in the first thread joined 5 months ago and yet only posted 5 times so far. We have Mr.A and Dee who joined only recently who have already posted 100+ posts. Even that durnk Mark T who can't find the Caps Lock key passed 100 mark even though he's not sharing much pics

Yeah, before you come onto this board and start telling everyone how things should be run, you should ask why they are being done this way in the first place. a) Troll attacks will ruin the board long before post count does. b) These sneaky bastards come up with new screen names every day to try to cause trouble, gleen information and promote flame wars. If someone cares enough about this information to stick around, post for awhile and share in some meaningful chat, we can usually figure out what their true intentions are. c) Why should we just give away all of the privy information that is often given to us by owners, builders and kit makers? That doesn't seem fair. We bust our asses tracking down information, and you think your very presence here deems it necessary for us to divulge this information to you? What the hell do WE know about YOU? Nothing. We don't know if you are building a scratch Batmobile or if you are some troll who is frustrated because you can't see the Batmobile in Saudi Arabia. WE know it exists because WE have stuck around long enough to make friends in the industry. If it is that important to you, then stick around, socialize, make friends, and quit this whiny "Why can't I see it??" bullshit. I don't think we should ban you at all. I think everyone should be able to speak their mind as long as they are not being a jackass or personally attacking any individual. However, now that it has been explained to you, use a little common sense and start making friends. Lurking for 5 months should not give you reason to think that we owe you anything. I myselfe seldome get on the comp, as I spend wayyyy much of what used to be free time--- on building my 89. Someday I will also be privy to the inner sanctom of those with 50 posts :) But in the mean time,,,, I have to be happy with the written generosity of those here who are encouraging in my endeavors on my building project.

RE: A Load of Crap!!!! I agree with DH and Justin 100% we have had a large problem with trolls in the past. Trying to cause trouble to several of our members including myself. These are the same individuals that have started many of the rumors that are still floating around today. DH set up this site so several of the owners could pass information to one another without having to worry that someone was monitoring us. Many of the builders wished to remain anonymous out of fear of WB. DH was able to get all us together and help one another, because of this board several of us have been able to make contact with one another and check out each other’s build. Then there are others who just lurk and have no intention on sharing any information to others and reap the benefits of our hard research and claim it, as they’re own work. What DH did was an effort on our behalf to try to protect our research from those who would exploit it for monetary gain on there part. I don’t see what you have to complain about if it wasn’t for these individuals willing to come out of the cave and release this information there would be no need for this forum. And the rumors would abound.

RE: A Load of Crap!!!! I agree with the 10+, 50+, 100+ posts concept. No, it's not going to win the admiration of everyone on the planet, but as said above, a lot of these people here have busted their tails doing extensive research, and all kinds of trial and error stuff, and to just make all that hard work easily accessable to the entire planet seems a bit daft to me. What the core group of people hear are asking is a little proof that you are sincere, and want to contribute. Even if you are just asking questions, that in itself is a contribution. It shows you have a sincere interest, and eventually you will come up with ideas/solutions, that will help others. I think that the other motive as Kevin pointed out is to hopefully weed out people who at times have to fight, or people who just plain don't fit in, I'm not talking about being snobbish. Bob C. and I were saying the other day that of all the chat boards related to prop making and Batman, that this place above all seems to have the most mature group as a whole. And lot of it is because of the great SENSE OF HUMOR. It keeps you sane. I sometimes check just to see what everyone says to each other. If you take yourself too seriously in this game, you will go nuts. |

RE: A Load of Crap!!!! As mentioned, 50 and 100 posts is not b/c of the elitist mentality. It's to protect information certain members do not want out in the open. It's either they share it on 50+ threads that people can read about it (if they try) or no information at all. If someone can suggest a better way to handle trolls and sensitive information then please post in comments and suggestion section. Oh and if you have nothing to post then post some pictures. You guys can also check top 4 threads in the closed topics section. That's when the troll hit it big. That was also when the forum was registration free and anyone could post under any name using any pre-chosen avatars. It took me over a year to get some owners to let me know they were even owners (Kevin and I exchanged e-mails for several weeks before he even told me he had a car! That was when he was still semi-private about it. And I met Dan R. when researching '66 owners and builders, but it wasn't until months later that he disclosed that he owned an '89, and THEN months later I finally got to see it. THEN it took him quite some time to let me post pics of his car for YOU guys to look at!). There are tons of people who own cars who have sent me pictures who WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO SHOW THEM TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. What is on my site is about half of the replicas I currently know about. However, sometimes they let me show pics to OTHER OWNERS. Like Dan R. allowed me to photograph the internal sub structure of his car to help others build their steel frame (SORRY JACK!!!!!! THE DVD IS IN THE MAIL AGAIN! I SWEAR!), but he preferred I not let just anybody see it. So sorry to disappoint you, but deal with it. RE: A Load of Crap!!!! Here is my 2 cents. Like all factions in life, there is a pecking order. Those who were here at the start and are the gods of the site (my words noone elses.) Those who joined later, but became a part of the core group. Good posters with wit and charm and watchers who post on the odd occasion with cool stuff. The watchers and then the bitching set. Now I have been here from the start, i'm not core but I rank. I know who outranks me, and am cool with that. Those who were here when the troll-a-thon was in full swing can tell you all too well why reg and post counts came in. It's simple really, if everyone plays nice... we all get along. If you are not nice, you get flamed, slam dunked and banned. Not cool at all, so what's the point in bitching. if you want to increase your count just read the posts. Points of interest always pop up from previous post and new ideas and topics form. Trust me, it's worth it. Less bitching = more worthwhile chat = higher posts = more cool stuff.

It really doesn't take that long. You complain about wanting to know all this "information". What information do you want to know? Why don't you ask a question?
