Dude, Where's My Batmobile?

An old article but kind of funny to read now.

Dude, Where's My Batmobile? Not enough A-list superhero action for you? Get this...Batman is heating up right now, and it looks like Warner Bros. is fast-tracking the project, trying to catch up with the current money being made off these comic-book movies at, well, pretty much every other studio in town. With reports that a new draft of the screenplay is due soon, the latest casting rumors have boiled down to a single candidate:

That's right, Ashton Kutcher.

Yes, in a world gone mad, Kutcher moves from Dude, Where's My Car? to playing the Dark Knight. But as he is basically attaching himself to every project in Hollywood right now, when approached about Batman, he quietly attached himself to that, too. Yes, this might change, but at present, he's the man in the cowl.

As a responsible journalistic outlet, we have to ask: How the hell did this happen?! Well, when now out director Brett Ratner got close to casting Superman this year, he tested and retested Kutcher, who apparently did well. The "known mostly as a comic actor and that's even a stretch" Kutcher seemed to want Bats over Supes (who wouldn't?) and is now close to being announced as the lead in the flick to be directed by Christopher Nolan.

So, does this news suck? At first glance, yeah, you bet. But remember, Michael Keaton was considered a comic actor before Batman, and Mr. Mom changed everybody's mind in a single weekend. This Ashton guy may be on to something here...

"Could somebody tell me what kind of a world we live in when a man dressed up as a bat gets all of my press!?"

As it took my a whyle to get used to Christian Bale as the Batman, I don't think I'll ever be able to accept Ashton Kutcher, of all people. At least Bale had a dark quality about him that's necessary for the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Kutcher would be better off starring as Robin or The Riddler or Mad Hatter. Hell, he could probably even pass as Harley Quinn.
Call me a critic, but Kutcher is just not up to the role of Bruce Wayne, much less the Dark Knight.

Why didn't somebody tell me he had one of those...things!?

He'd be better suited to Vicky Vale than Batman. There's no way the guy could pull it off. Envious as I am that he's dating Demi Moore, I'm not letting that cloud my decision that he could never be Batman. Seriously, if I saw him jumping into the Batmobile I'd be looking around for the Punk'd cameras.

That guy is a ho**. I hate him. I'd knock him out if I ever saw him. Guys like him in my school were eaten alive. BBQ anyone?

another thing, who the hell casts these idiots? Thats what RUINED the other batmans, Clooney-tooneys a**? Dude, he's about as hard as Carrot top in those phone commercials....

and Val kilmers a big blonde girl, my wife would kick his a**.

I don't know who I would cast, but I'd put in a modern day Bruce willis or something around the wierdness of Christopher Walkin...LOL.

Ashton gets a bad rap because of Punk'd and probably because he's with Demi Moore. He's a decent actor though. I'm not saying he should've been Batman by any means, but its more because he doesnt have the right look than that he can't pull off convincing drama. I like him in "Butterfly Effect."
