Hot Wheels 1/18th Tumbler

Major flaw # 1

 From: Webmaster | Posted: 6/3/2005 8:28:08 PM |

RE: Hot Wheels 1/18th Tumbler

Dang..

And I thought I had no life.

Did the batmobile interest peak with the release of Dave's 1/18th hot wheels?
That's what happened with me.
I had a hiatus until I stumbled onto the 1/18th diecast and decided to makee the website.

Yeah Jack?
I mean, Tim.

RE: Hot Wheels 1/18th Tumbler

Hey Tim, just sent you some Hot Wheels 1/18 pattern pics. Remember though, this pattern is 1 1/2 upsized from the final. Yes, I think a lot of areas are going to be off because unless the designer in charge is a fan...you get basically something that's "good enough".

RE: Hot Wheels 1/18th Tumbler

Let's see those pattern pics, Tim.
Don't hold out on us like Jack have.

RE: Hot Wheels 1/18th Tumbler

Above one is from Bandai. Tim said that's the most accurate one.

RE: Hot Wheels 1/18th Tumbler

I got one last Tuesday but it's not production. The colors are a bit off on the copper areas so WB rejected it. I'll snap off some pics tonight and send them off to Jack. The front wheels do look a bit large and don't turn. The canopy slides back about halfway and so does the windshield. Batman could not get out of this car. The interior looks really good but this model has no decals/paint inside. I talked to engineering about all of this along with other issues it has and the main problem was lack of reference at the time. Remember, when I did the 1989 car there were built cars sitting around, people that built the cars (sitting around), and plenty of images/pics of the final film. When prototyping began on the 1/18 Tumbler the full-size cars were just getting built and the blueprints/files from WB sucked! Trust me, I was there. I was hoping they could do the best they could after I left but some things just didn't go right. When I send my buddy pics now from Toronto or other Tumbler photo areas, he sends me the "thanks a lot but waaaay too late" remarks. It always pays to do a collectable at least a year after a film is out to collect proper information. I'll also shoot it next to the 89 for scale reference. I'm guessing again and I haven't done the numbers but it looks like they at LEAST kept that odd ball 1989 scale.

RE: Hot Wheels 1/18th Tumbler

The ebay one: This auction is a pre-sell only. Item is to be in stock in August 2005.

They still need final approval from WB so even that date might be off a bit.

RE: Hot Wheels 1/18th Tumbler

Is that the largest image you have of the box?

 From: Webmaster | Posted: 6/20/2005 6:20:58 PM |

RE: Hot Wheels 1/18th Tumbler

I didn't buy it.
Got that image off ebay.

Some guy's selling 3 already!

Yeah I ordered my 1/35 Tumbler today. Hope it gets here safe from Japan. Gotta love Bandai

RE: Hot Wheels 1/18th Tumbler

Alright Jack, you got mail.

The "1/18" Hot Wheels scale Tumbler dimensions btw are Length= 9", Width= 5 1/4", Height= 3". I'm a bit tired tonight so I'll let someone else figure out the true scale. I did my best to convince them to keep the 1989 scale...how'd they do???

Not sure how the 1/35 scale model will be but the Hot Wheels one actually looks really good (aside from a few problems). No, they don't pay me for this!

 From: Tim | Posted: 6/21/2005 8:10:06 AM |

RE: Hot Wheels 1/18th Tumbler

Well, length it's 1/20th scale and width is 1/21.33 scale. That is based on the "official" measurements of 15' length and 9'4" width. I'm not so sure those are correct though.
