bat steering wheel
so anyways i was working on some interior deisigns and was giving some thought to the steering wheel, this is what i came up with, now excuse the crappy rendering, i did it fastly to give me a beter idea of what it might look like, now going with my method of attach ment it would look just like this form the front u would not see any bolts. so my question to yall is what do u think?

RE: bat steering wheel
Very cool. What if the bat was toward the bottom with the tail touching leaving the larger space towards the top like a traditional wheel?

RE: bat steering wheel
i did try 1 other veration other then the one i posted that is more to what ur talking about, although moving the bat down was not a option becuase the bat would not fit right in the cricle, but i did try moving the tail down, it just dident look as good as the first one to me,

RE: bat steering wheel
i think the perspective on the first is throing people off a bit, atleast some people cuz when i showe this pic they say this one is the best only its just the first model just a top view,
kevin,
i thought about using a design kinda like that, cuz in a wya it does look cool, but me when i drive i drive a lot wtih one hand in the 12-oclock potion so that deisng wouldent really let me feel comfitable when driving.

RE: bat steering wheel
WOW! The only thing I like more then pictures has to be steering wheels. So how are you going to mount it to the steering column?

RE: bat steering wheel
mounting method was the easy part, me trying to describe it is hard, but the best i can is imagine on the back is a tube that slides on the the steering wheel shaft (makes sense?) then the bolt goes though the back tube into the stearing wheels shat. i hope that makes sense

RE: bat steering wheel
Nice idea SG1, but the concept is flawed.
I have a steering wheel without finger holes in it on my Knight 4000.
It's very nice to look at for a show car and you can use it to get the car on and off a trailer, but driving it for more than a few minutes becomes annoying.
My suggestion is to move the bat design down a bit and make some room for your fingers to have a more traditional grip as suggested above.
Or...
Isotta makes custom wheels that can be taken to any metal shop to be altered into bat shapes.

RE: bat steering wheel
i thought about the grip when desinging it , a importnat part to remeber is everone drives diffrently, the way my first deisng is u can still git a good grip on the 3 and 9 potions fingers would right around the bottom part of the wing, (allso will allow my tumbs to reach any swtichs i may put on the wheel (not tha ti need more i still got a buch of swichs im assining stuff 2))
but when i drive i mostly drive with 1 hand at the 12 potion which will be totaly comfortable to me, and somtiems i drive with my hands at the bottom of the wheel at the 6 postion, so u see when i deisnged it i really designed it for my comfortablity, so no real flaw ( as stated before everone drives diffrently) plus after a few months if i decided to change it ill just design somehting else and pick up the metal and build the new one.

RE: bat steering wheel
heres a question for all that hit me when i was driving yesterday, and just now rememberd i was curious if i was the only one,
when u drive do u use 1 foot for both gas and break (if u drive a automatic that is) or do u use both feet, one for the gas and one for the break, when i started driving i used to use 1 foot but somehow and i dont know when but i started using 2 feet.

RE: bat steering wheel
My dad does that.
One foot gas, one foot brake.
That's why I'm always changing his brake pads. He's the old guy driving around with his brake lights on. :)
Actually, both methods work just fine. Race car drivers with automatic cars drive your way. But in racing you're also taught. Heel/toe gas/brake. One foot for the gas brake. Toes on the gas, heel on the brake at the same time. Left foot clutch.
I drive a lot of standard transmissions, so I'm left foot clutch most of the time.
On long trips with the truck... Right leg on the dash, left foot gas.
WATCH OUT FOR THE BIG BLACK TRUCK AND TRAILER PRETENDING HE DOESN'T SEE YOU IN HIS MIRRORS! HEHEHEHEHE!

RE: bat steering wheel
so anywyas this is the deisng i decided on, (not the texture aprt just the desige)
production on all my projects have been slow the alst year do to the added family issues ontip of shcool and work. but this year i hope to finaly get my full scale batmobiel started, along wtih finshing up the 1/4th batmobile, and finsh up a buch of my other projects (including the full metal and full funtional 89 bat belt), and during the whole year i will be spending a lot of time doing some buisness plaing for my comic shop.which by the end of this year i hope to have saved up enough to go start talking to some archatects and contracters to get the building built.
so over all this year should be one of the busyest of my life....to date...cuz u never know about the future..
