Searching for Eddie Butler
I finally found the answer to one of the big questions I've had. Who is the person who actually sculpted the full size car? We know that Anton Furst designed and sculpted the 2-1/2' long maquette and then turned that over to John Evans and his "crew". I finally got around to reading the Cinefex #41 that we were talking about and it say it right there...
"Set modeler Eddie Butler sculpted the approved rendering up to full scale - twenty-three feet long and almost nine feet wide - working in high density polystyrene. The full-scale polystyrene pieces then went to a company that specializes in building Le Mans racing cars to be prepared for molding."
So where is Eddie Butler today? I did find that he is listed in IMDB.
