Tearing apart my motorcycle...
So here I am at the shop, tearing apart my motorcycle into TONS of tiny pieces. I am going to fabricate some new parts for it, cut up some old ones, and repaint it in the next two weeks (hopefully). Not doing the Bat Cycle with THIS bike I decided, but I have other plans for it.... You will all see when it is done.
I would take some pics of the bike in lots of little pieces, but my girlfriend left and took her camera with her. When she comes over on Monday I will take some pics and post them. Nothing too exciting to see here yet, unless you like to see things in pieces. The REAL fun will start when I fabricate some new accessories....

Best of luck. Here is a little food for thought, just to get those creative juices flowing.

WOW. Thanks Jack.... I think!
What the heck was THIS one used in????
I am not sure I remember it. It is not the original one - completely different windscreen and sidecar at the very least.

Actually it is the original one. The one we all know and love was made for the Batman movie.

RE: Tearing apart my motorcycle...
Before I go for my regular Poker night, I wanted to post some pics of the tear down in progress.... Enjoy!
And I am also working on rebuilding my Camaro engine. This space will be cleared out when I get my Batmobile to work on:
Finally, here is where I actually do REAL work (yes I actually reserve some space in my shop for when I work from time to time!):

Justin is being clever. He want's the Superman bike finished in time for when the movie comes out and make an appearance at the cinema on the bike in either a Spidey suit or Superman Suit knowing The J-meister.

RE: Tearing apart my motorcycle...
Dee knows what's up.... Get this thing done soon and off it when the movie comes out. I just think I would be less offended to do something Supermanish right now. I am too much into Batman to do anything less than perfect. I am still gonna do a Bat Cycle, but I am gonna use an actual kit to do it and not scratch build it. I figure with the movie coming out, this thing is gonna be cool enough to catch a few bucks when I sell it that I can use towards my Batmobile or something nice like that. Plus it gives me a chance to test my skills in fabrication before I cut loose on an entire car.
My Camaro is a 1997 Camaro Z28 convertible BTW. 30th anniversary edition. Again, to test my automotive fab skills, I am tearing apart some of it and rebuilding it. I am tearing out the interior and redoing it in black / tan leather or vinyl. I am removing the convertible top and redoing it in black. I am rebuilding the front end on the engine (already done a couple of rockers, entire cooling system, distributor, etc.) and doing a few more random things to it. I am gonna sell it when I am done to the first person who wants it and brings me cash. I don't care to make money on this one - just off it so I can use the room in my shop for more productive projects.

Does this mean there will be no special panels, just a new paint job?

RE: Tearing apart my motorcycle...
lol. $7,500 and its yours! As for Thumper getting a ride - tell her its on!
Jack - I am not going as all out as I was with the Bat Cycle design. What I am doing is re-fabricating the rear fender (I want it to contour the tire better than the stock fender which stuck out quite far and had too many accessories on it), and I am fabricating a SUPERMAN symbol for the tank. It is going to be raised up like the new costume design - maybe I will mold it out of clay and make a female so I can pull one out of fiberglass or something? Then I will paint it with some sort of simulated chrome paint. The bike, for the most part, is going to be black and chrome themed. Kinda like the black / white costume supes wore after his rebirth. I have not decided yet how much, if any color I will have on the bike (as far as traditional red and blue goes). I don't want to make it too cartoony!

RE: Tearing apart my motorcycle...
So I was cutting up the rear fender and deciding how I wanted the "S" to look at the tip towards the bottom (I got the idea from another Superman bike I saw - the fender will contour the rear tire and be cut into a "V" shape at the bottom which will become the bottom of the "S" symbol). I went through a couple different ideas, until it hit me! I am going to fabricate a brake light lens to be shaped like the "S", which I will mount on top of the stock wiring and bulb and use that for the bottom of the fender. So whenever the brakes are hit, the "S" will light up! I am going to inset it beneath the fender so the "S" is flush with the rest of the contour and not sticking up like a regular tail light. The only way you will even know is when the brakes are hit or it you get real close to it. Here is my rough notes to give you an idea what I am talking about:

Wow Justin, I'm impressed with your drawing. I didn't know you you could draw like that. I like the design too.

RE: Tearing apart my motorcycle...
Are you being sarcastic about the regular Superman symbol in the drawing, or are you being honest? If the latter is the case - Thanks! I used to be an artist of sorts. I wanted to grow up and be a comic book artist but I got over it a long time ago. WAY too busy for that. I do alot of technical sketches (most that only I can understand) because I am always thinking of new ways to do things. For instance, just this last week I got done designing and building an invention that I built out of a torn apart hair dryer that I am going to be marketing to some large companies soon. I am hoping to sell my patents to them for a bundle! I took a class about ten years ago in basic design studies. I retained some of it!

RE: Tearing apart my motorcycle...
BTW - I did this particular sketch in the car on the way to the gym to coach last night. My friend was driving and I was trying to sketch at red lights, stop signs, or anytime there was a smooth part of road.
