I am fully preped. to build Tumbler
I have the first plans on how I believe that the vehicle was put together. Sorry guys cant show them just yet, but i promise no bull. Parts and fab shouldnt be that much of a prob. Thats right a full size, small block 350 blown motor, cave divin tumbler. All my specs and designes came from the great close up pics for CLTC and pausen' BatBegins 750 times. I would like to know if anyone really knows if the rearend axel is truley a solid sraight or a independent rear suspension. The only thing that is messin with me is the way the 2 main nitrogen shocks are set up. I also want to incorporate the working hatch to the car not the dumb pop top like the moving cars have. Sorry to say I dont have much experiance with hydrolic coputer programming to allow the complex motions of the hatch and the seat housing to move. . The front end I developed myself using the same concept as the masterminds behind this beast. Front Baja truck suspension fabd. and customized for this app. Not sure what tranny would be the best to use for the dramatic torqe and weight of the car and the massive meat. I also dont have the extra 22 thousand dollars to make all my body panels out of CARBON FIBER like they did as well.So def. somthn close to it....... Anything else would be helpfull, dont worry well all get to enjoy it ONCE ITS DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still think this thing could be built on a sandrail dune buggy and look pretty cool.

J.C., nice to finally see someone else interested in the Tumbler. Here is a pic that should help you sort out the whole rear axle issue. I too aspire to build this beast, I am currently shopping around for just the right rear axle, then from there I will send drawings in to this off road chassis builder to build my frame. I would love to know how you figured out the frontend of the car. Welcome to the boards by the way.

It will not let me load my pic, it is on the green list of things that pop up when you go to upload images, it is labeled rearend. Does anybody know how to pull it over here?

Thanks for the update. I remember those, and you posted some pics of some body panels he had made as well. It's too bad he didn't finish it.

RE: I am fully preped. to build Tumbler
Not to be the one who throws a rock in your pond here buddy, but one of the fabricators I respect and admire the most threw in the towl after building the chassis and mocking up the body.
My cost estimates for Star Cars for their Tumbler last year ran 50 thousand for just a roller. Not a stick of fabric or a single gauge inside. We bailed on the project and they bought a Knight Rider car instead.
The Bobs are the only people I feel have the talent to pull this project off.
If this is "truely"...
I also dont have the extra 22 thousand dollars to make all my body panels out of CARBON FIBER like they did as well.So def. somthn close to it.......
Then you don't have the money to undertake this project. Build a model instead.
That being said. I really DO wish you all the luck in the world and look forward to your chassis pics.

RE: I am fully preped. to build Tumbler
well thank you very much for all of your info and help. Hopefully theres more to come. Those rear end pics. helped out more than u know. I really dont know the BOBs and if theres a little bit of poor feelings about this project IM SORRY FOR U. Having the ability to parade around a very vast very rich junkyard also puts a little dent in my doughts. I really dont care about an added weight problem due to the money issue with the carbon fiber. Ill get by. An extra 800 big woop. The bitch is gonna have over 1,ooo poneys. My ride really doesnt need to be as light as the one in the movie. I dont plan on jumping over any big overpasses, just little ones . The frame is the only thing im haven probs with at the moment. Trying to use a custom 98 chevy silverado 2500 frame, widend and placed accordingly. Still tryn. I will have this done, I dont care how long or if I have to sell my other cars to do it. DONT HATE!!!!!!!!!!
