New 1:18 packaging
I just noticed something interesting about the new 1:18 packaging. The image on the box is the Forever car...

RE: New 1:18 packaging
HotWheels has a lot of problems with packaging. This picture is from the 1/64th Showcase 1/20,000 number 2of3 Forever Batmobile. The text on the back of the package is talking about the B&R car.
And the B&R cars info is a mix of ifo about Forever and Returns.

Dont you two ever sleep? Tim i still have mine apart also. I love how the canopy slides up that little ramp then on the return snaps back down to fit the body. D

Oops Jax,
Scaled images down too small.
You'll need to upload'em again in bigger size.

RE: New 1:18 packaging
That's funny, I don't remember the Penguin destroying the Batman & Robin car in Batman Forever.
These are all screwed up. Who writes this stuff? "...part-way through the movie" ??? (Geez, I hope it wasn't Dave. )

RE: New 1:18 packaging
Surprise! This is what happens when the ONLY real Batmobile fan that worked at Hot Wheels...leaves. Remember, a lot of the guys working there are old farts and don't know anything about the Batman films. When I was there, I watched over these things like a hawk, even taking stuff home on the weekends. When they put me on the new toyline for PIXAR (just before I left), I saw some of this but like I mentioned earlier...washed my hands.
One other thing. The packaging designer does not work together with the toy designer. You get one uneducated guy in the mix and there you have it (see images above)

Hey Dave,
How accurate is the size & layout of the dash and cockpit? (not the decal)

Me too, although I can see a few differences from that photo. Of course the pictures are taken at different angles and I'm not sure what car that is. (It's still pretty damn good.)

RE: New 1:18 packaging
Dave,
you have seen the car up close, you have done all the dash inspections and measurements... BUT.... if I am right then the speedometer and the rest of the dash conflict. I know the speed of the car is a touchy subject with some people (you know who you are) and we have already had that debate, but if I AM right then can you explain the red MACH light that would indicate that the car's fantasy speed is indeed above MACH 1, and the speed on the actual speedometer relating to the actual car's performance.
I have read that some cars that were built, were only capable of slower speeds. While other cars were much higher, such as the car that did the return to the Batcave sequence in the first movie. Was that Onstar's Hero car.
Finally, what happened to the halloween dream 1:7 scales????????

RE: New 1:18 packaging
Hmmm...1st-most of the gauges were just stuck into the dash and didn't work. 2nd-most of the gauges were from military aircraft from areas around England. 3rd-a lot of those gauges and even the Batwing ejector seat were from an old Harrier. 4th-yes, the Onstar car is the first 1989 Batmobile built and the fastest. The speed was improved for Returns. BTW, chassis was 1974 Chevy Impala (2 feet lengthened, wheels out 4 inches, engine dropped 12 inches...checked my notes).
Still not sure about the question though. Are you asking if this car could do mach 1? I hope not

RE: New 1:18 packaging
$10 says they put the "mach light" on the dash just because it looked cool.

Refresh my memory, but did Batman eject the batwing in the movie?

RE: New 1:18 packaging
Tim,
How easy is it to pull apart the 1:18 model and put'em back?
I'm thinking of putting some lightings inside.

RE: New 1:18 packaging
I'm not Tim, but I'm pretty close. All you need is a small crosspoint (phillips) screwdriver. The hardest part is getting the guns back in and even that isn't very hard. Good luck. Jack
