| Hey all, I stumbled accross CLTC and think this is an awesome site. I was curious as to what everyone is using for a motor and trans in their builds? I saw some SBCs and someone was building a Tumbler with a N2O big block. Just wondering what everyone is using/thinking about using for a motor and trans.

| Hey JK Flash, welcome to CLTC......I'm just one of the builders building a Tumbler and an 89 Batmobile.....My Tumbler which I call my Rumbler has a 1970 Cadillac 500 cubic inch engine with a mild cam....The reason I went with this GM big block is the torque it puts out for the relative lightness of the engine.....Its coupled with a built up 400 Turbo transmission....... My 89 has a 2004 LS1 CTS Cadillac engine. Its light weight being all aluminum and very low in hieght to fit under the hood of the 89. Its coupled to an 4L60 built up transmission....Thanks for dropping in....BWD

Shaggy (7/30/2008) I have a plastic 1/6 scale 350 to go in my '89. (you asked!)What kind of HP do you make with that? haha. I just got the AMT model kit of the 89 and am going to be cutting it up to be a small scale version of what I would like to build, street legal. The problem is that it isn't very detailed in the engine/drivetrain area. In fact, there is no engine and drivetrain in that kit! So I will continue to look around here and bug you builders who have already started to get some tips on what to do. Now I just need to decide which to build: Tumbler or 89 model? I hate decisions, haha.

| How about a rearend or transaxle for the Tumbler? How do you make the drivetrain for it?

I'm not sure i understand your question. The original Tumbler had a Ford Rearend, a series of drive shafts, looped into a transfer box, and 1 drive shaft coming out of the tail end of the transmission....a TCI TH350 if i remember correctly.
